Real technique, real pad work, a genuine sweat — and nobody hits you back.

What is fitness boxing?

Fitness boxing is boxing training used as a workout: stance, footwork, guard and punch technique taught properly on pads and bags, without sparring or contact.

You learn the same fundamentals a competing boxer learns — because good technique is what makes the workout hard and keeps your shoulders and wrists safe. The difference is that the goal is conditioning, coordination and stress relief rather than a fight.

It's one of the fastest ways to lift your cardio without running, and one of the few workouts where an hour disappears without you looking at the clock.

What you'll learn

Every program is different, but this is the shape of it.

Other training options
  • Stance, guard and how to move without crossing your feet
  • Jab, cross, hook and uppercut — taught slowly, then fast
  • Pad work with a coach calling combinations
  • Heavy bag rounds for cardio conditioning and power
  • Defence: slips, rolls and blocks, drilled without contact
  • How to wrap your hands properly so your wrists last

Who it's for

People who hate cardio machines

Rounds on the pads do what the treadmill does, and the hour goes faster.

Anyone carrying stress

There's a reason people who've had a week take it out on a heavy bag.

Coordination and confidence

Learning a skill while getting fit sticks better than counting reps.

Combat sports curious

If you later want the real thing, Burnie Boxing Club and Shen Academy share the venue.
