Maximum strength coaching

Power
lifting

Three lifts, done properly, loaded relentlessly. Whether you compete or just want a number.

What does powerlifting coaching involve?

Powerlifting coaching at More Than Fitness is expert instruction in the squat, bench press and deadlift, with programming built to add weight to the bar over months and years.

You'll be coached on technique first — bar path, bracing, setup and cues — then loaded progressively. Every session is tracked so personal records aren't a guess.

It's available whether you're aiming at a competition platform or simply want to know what your body is capable of. Coaching is tailored to your current level, not a copy-paste program.

Suits

Who it's for

First-time lifters

The three lifts are learnt with an empty bar. Everyone starts there.

Self-taught and plateaued

Most stalls are technical. A coach's eye finds them fast.

Competitive lifters

Meet prep, peaking, and someone in your corner on the day.

Athletes from other sports

Raw strength underneath everything else you do.

All FAQs

No. Most people who train powerlifting never enter a meet — they just want to get strong. Competition prep is there if you want it.

Coached powerlifting has a lower injury rate than most field sports. The risk comes from bad technique and jumping loads too fast, which is exactly what coaching prevents.

Nothing to start. Flat shoes and comfortable training gear are enough. Belts, sleeves and shoes come later, and the coach will tell you when and what.

Yes, and many do. The three lifts don't care who's under the bar.

Powerlifting programming is built around getting maximum weight on three specific lifts. General strength training is broader and prioritises movement quality across more patterns.
